What a time to live. I'm sitting in an airport, and my computer can reach out and touch the entire world - or that fraction of it wealthy enough to afford computers of their own, anyway. I've just uploaded a photo from my digital camera, taken here in Austin last night, to my web server in San Jose...
Maybe the kids are lucky; they'll take this technology for granted, and perhaps they'll be able to do things with it that would never have occured to me. But they'll never feel the sense of wonder I get from having lived in a world when these systems didn't exist.
Four years ago, Kelly and I got married. Three years ago, we had just turned "separated" into "getting divorced". Today we put the rings back on.
It was a nice ride on the Spirit of Washington train with a murder mystery dinner. Hopefully the murder is not an omen for this new phase of our relationship. Kelly's creative explanation of the mystery won her a keychain shaped like a pair of handcuffs.
